This panel will discuss the impact of the different approaches to prostitution adopted by Sweden and Germany. Speakers will also examine Canada's new prostitution law with a focus on Vancouver.

Detective Inspector Simon Häggström, Sweden

Head of Stockholm Police Prostitution Unit and author of Shadow's Law. The True Story of a Swedish Detective Inspector Fighting Prostitution. Detective Inspector Simon Häggström is appointed to the Swedish National Task Force Against Prostitution and Human Trafficking since 2009. He has personally arrested over 1000 men for the buying of sexual services. 


Dr. Ingeborg Kraus, Germany

Psychologist and trauma expert based in Germany. Dr. Kraus’ expertise includes humanitarian work in Bosnia and Kosovo with rape camp survivors; she is frequently invited to speak about trauma and sexual exploitation to university classes for psychologists, social workers,medical experts and other experts dealing with victims of trauma. Dr. Kraus is the initiator of the petition Appeal of the German psychotraumatologist against prostitution.
